Coming soon. Home / Features / Pet-friendly places Coming soon Where can my pet actually go? In the UAE, plenty of hotels, restaurants, malls and beaches don’t allow pets, and some do. Mori is building a way to see which ones welcome yours, before you set off. The problem A day out shouldn’t end at the door. Anyone who has turned up with a dog and been politely turned away knows this one. Rules change place to place One building can allow pets while the one next to it doesn’t. A hotel may welcome them while its mall does not. Small print matters Leashes, size limits, indoor or outdoor seating, fees and which pets count. It’s hard to find, and it changes. Sometimes you need a hand If pets can’t come in, is there somewhere nearby for them to stay, or someone who can look after them? What Mori will show Clear answers, with their sources. Pet-friendly places is coming soon. It isn’t in the app yet. This is what we are building. Do they welcome pets? A simple status for each place: welcomes pets, doesn’t allow them, or ask first. The pet rules Leash and size rules, indoor or outdoor, fees, and which kinds of pets, in plain words. Care on hand Whether staff can help, or a sitter or boarding place is close by, if your pet can’t come in. Filter and find Search by emirate and area, the way the local guide already works, then get directions. Sources and dates Each place shows where its pet policy came from and the day we checked, like the rest of Mori. Businesses can confirm Places will be able to tell us their policy, and anything unconfirmed will say so. Honest about what we know Policies change, so we show our sources. Mori’s local guide already lists 20 pet-friendly places, such as parks and beaches, each with its sources. Pet-friendly places for hotels, restaurants and more will be a dedicated feature, with its own rules and checks. Until then, please always confirm with the venue before you travel. We name a place only when a source states its pet policy We say “not confirmed” when we can’t tell We never claim a place is pet-friendly because it is nearby one that is You can report a mistake from any listing Questions Pet-friendly places Is this in the app today? No. It’s coming soon. Join the waitlist and we’ll tell you first. Which places will be covered? We’ll start with the places we can confirm from official pages, and grow from there. We won’t list a place until a source states its pet policy. Will it cover the whole UAE? That’s the aim. We’ll only show an emirate’s places once we have sources for them, and we’ll say where coverage is thin. Can a business add its own policy? Yes. Get in touch and we’ll check it and add it with its source. UAE pet rules at a glance The rules, in plain words. Summaries from our checked notes. Where sources disagree we say so, and we link every source. Not legal advice. Home / About us / Our mission Our mission Calmer, safer, more local pet care. Every family in the UAE should find it easy to look after their pets well, whatever the pet, whatever the emirate. “Looking after a pet should feel like love, not like admin.” How we’ll get there Three commitments. Calmer Small, tidy tools that take the remembering off your mind: routines, reminders, records. Safer General guidance that never pretends to be a vet, and a clear path to one when it matters. More local Real places in every emirate, with the sources and the date we checked. How we measure it We’ll know Mori is working when people tell us they stopped worrying about the small things: that the vaccine date arrived before it was due, that the right 24-hour clinic was one tap away, that the walk happened before the pavement got hot. We’ll publish what we learn, what we get wrong, and what we change. You can read how we handle information in our editorial policy . Coming soon Mori for iPhone and Android is on its way. Privacy --- ## Our story URL: https://mori.thelycoris.com/story/ Summary: The story behind Mori: why we are building a calmer way to look after pets in the UAE. Home / About us / Our story Our story It started with a simple question. “Did anyone feed the dog?” Every household has asked it. We wanted the answer to always be one glance away. The small jobs behind a happy pet Look closely at a week with a pet in the UAE and you find a lot of small jobs. Meals at the right times. Walks before the pavement heats up. A rabies booster that’s due next month. A groomer, a sitter, a vet you trust. A late-night question you’d rather not Google. None of it is hard. All of it is easy to forget, and the bits that matter most tend to arrive at the worst moment. So we drew a calmer version Mori began as a design: a quiet app that remembers for you, answers kindly, and knows where you live. We drew every screen by hand, and every animal, from Labradors to Salukis, Siamese cats to saker falcons, because a pet isn’t a generic icon. A Saluki doesn’t look like a Pomeranian, and a Saker doesn’t look like a cockatiel. Neither should their app. Built here, for here The UAE has its own rhythm: heat that changes the way you walk, rules for owning and travelling with pets, eight emirates with very different neighbourhoods, and a deep tradition with falcons. Mori starts from that, not from somewhere else. Where we are now You can use Mori today in your browser. The iPhone and Android apps are on their way, and the waitlist is open. We’re growing the local guide emirate by emirate, with sources on every place. If you’d like to help, partner with us or say hello . Coming soon Mori for iPhone and Android is on its way. By Mori editorial team 22 October 2026 6 min read Facts checked 22 October 2026 On this page What is the law on dangerous dogs in the UAE? Which dog breeds are banned? Are there exemptions? Where do the published lists disagree? What are the penalties? How does this affect importing a dog? What if I am adopting or buying a dog in the UAE? Quick answers Sources Copy link WhatsApp Post Email Key takeaways Federal Law No. 22 of 2016 regulates dangerous animals, and a ministerial decision in November 2021 updated the list of prohibited dog breeds in its Annex 2. Gulf News reported the banned groups as Pit Bull types, Mastiff types, the Japanese Tosa and the Perro de Presa Canario. Exemptions were reported for service, emotional-support and medical-purpose dogs, with documentation and an owner’s undertaking. Lists in other sources differ, for example on the Cane Corso, Rottweiler, Doberman, Boxer and German Shepherd. Treat those as unresolved and check with MOCCAE. Check a dog’s breed status before you buy, adopt or import, and keep the paperwork that shows what your dog is. Few topics cause more worry for dog owners moving to or living in the UAE than the banned breeds list. People are anxious about their own dog, about a mixed-breed rescue, or about a puppy they are thinking of buying. The anxiety is understandable, because the rules carry real consequences. It is also made worse by the fact that lists published online do not always match. This guide explains what the law is, what has been reported about the banned groups, who can be exempt, and how to check your own situation. It is not legal advice. For a definitive answer about a particular dog, ask the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE). What is the law on dangerous dogs in the UAE? The main law is Federal Law No. 22 of 2016, which regulates predatory, dangerous and semi-dangerous animals. It requires dogs to be licensed and kept on a collar and leash on public property, and owners to pick up after their dogs. Its Annex 2 lists the animals and breeds that are prohibited or controlled, and the Ministry amended that annex by a ministerial decision announced on 22 November 2021, according to Gulf News. The same law is the reason for many everyday rules, such as leash requirements and restrictions on where dogs are allowed. We cover those in our guide to checking whether a venue is pet-friendly . Which dog breeds are banned? Gulf News’s report on the 2021 update lists the prohibited groups as follows. Treat it as a reported summary rather than the legal text. Group Reported as prohibited Pit Bull types Staffordshire terrier, American Pit Bull, American Bully Pit Bull Mastiff types Brazilian, Argentine, Tibetan, South African, Italian and Indian mastiffs, and the Bullmastiff Other breeds Japanese Tosa, and the Perro de Presa Canario (described as a Spanish mastiff breed) The report says the update prohibits the possession and circulation of these dogs for individuals and commercial establishments, and that importing and breeding them is banned too. MOCCAE’s pet import page, which is the page that matters if you are bringing a dog into the country, names banned breeds including the American Pit Bull Terrier, the Bullmastiff and the Cane Corso, and reports wolf hybrids as prohibited. Notice that the Cane Corso appears there but not in the Gulf News list, which is one of the reasons we say lists differ. Are there exemptions? Yes, for specific purposes. Gulf News reported that ownership of Pit Bull types, Mastiff types and the Japanese Tosa is permitted when the dog is a service animal, an emotional-support animal or kept for other medical purposes. To apply, it listed three requirements. A document from a training centre confirming the dog was trained for one of the approved purposes. A medical report on the owner’s health that supports the dog’s purpose. A written undertaking from the owner not to transfer ownership, abandon the dog or breed it. Ask the authority If you think an exemption could apply to you, do not rely on a summary. Ask MOCCAE for the current procedure and the exact documents, and keep copies of everything. Where do the published lists disagree? Quite a lot, and this is the part that leaves owners most confused. The Rottweiler, Doberman, Boxer and German Shepherd appear as banned in some older reports and as restricted, meaning registration, leash and muzzle requirements, in others. The Cane Corso appears on MOCCAE’s import page but not in the Gulf News summary. Reports also differ about how mixed breeds should be treated. Breed What different sources say What to do Cane Corso Named on MOCCAE’s import page; not in the Gulf News list Treat as banned for import and ask MOCCAE Rottweiler, Doberman, Boxer, German Shepherd Banned in some older reports; restricted in others Unresolved. Confirm with MOCCAE before acquiring or importing Mixed breeds Not clearly addressed in the sources we read Ask your vet what they would record, and ask MOCCAE We would rather tell you that the picture is unresolved than guess. If a source gives you a confident list that matches none of the others, ask where it came from, and prefer the ministry’s own pages. What are the penalties? Penalties are serious, and the amounts reported differ. The Gulf News article, citing the UAE government portal, says failure to comply carries a fine of Dh10,000 to Dh700,000, and may also lead to a jail term and confiscation of the animal. Other press reports about leash and public-space breaches mention fines of up to Dh100,000 for serious breaches. We have not been able to confirm one definitive schedule, so please check the current law rather than relying on a figure from an article. Know what is on your paperwork A dog’s breed on paper matters. If you are unsure what your dog is, ask your vet, and keep records such as vaccination booklets, microchip documents and any breed certificate. How does this affect importing a dog? Importing a banned breed is not allowed, and MOCCAE’s import conditions require that the dog is not a banned breed. When you apply for an import permit, the breed is part of what is checked, so honesty and accuracy on the paperwork are important. Our guide to bringing a pet into the UAE explains the full sequence. If you are relocating with a dog that might be affected, speak to MOCCAE before you spend money on vaccinations, tests or flights. It is far better to learn early than at the airport. What if I am adopting or buying a dog in the UAE? Ask for proof, in writing. A reputable seller or shelter should be able to tell you the breed, the parents if known, vaccinations and microchip details. For a rescue of unknown parentage, your vet can write down their professional opinion, which is useful but is not a legal ruling. If the dog looks like one of the listed types, speak to the authorities before you take the dog home. Ask for the vaccination record and the microchip number. Ask what the seller or shelter has recorded as the dog’s breed. Do not buy a dog advertised under a banned breed name. Register your dog promptly. See our guide to microchipping and registering your pet in Dubai . Most dogs in the UAE are, of course, not affected. But if your dog is a type that people tend to worry about, a calm conversation with your vet and the ministry now is the best insurance you can buy. Quick answers Which dog breeds are banned in the UAE? Gulf News reported that a 2021 update to Federal Law No. 22 of 2016 prohibits Pit Bull types, Mastiff types, the Japanese Tosa and the Perro de Presa Canario. MOCCAE’s import page also names the Cane Corso. Check the current list with MOCCAE. Can I keep a banned breed as a service or emotional-support dog? Gulf News reported exemptions for service, emotional-support and medical-purpose dogs, with a training document, a medical report and a written undertaking from the owner. Confirm the procedure with the authority. Are Rottweilers, Dobermans and German Shepherds banned in the UAE? Sources disagree: some older reports list them as banned, others as restricted with registration, leash and muzzle rules. Treat this as unresolved and confirm with MOCCAE. Can I import a banned breed into the UAE? No. Importing banned breeds is prohibited, and MOCCAE’s import conditions exclude them. Check your dog’s breed before you apply for a permit. What if I am bringing a falcon or an exotic animal? Quick answers Sources Copy link WhatsApp Post Email Key takeaways Dogs and cats need an import permit from MOCCAE before they travel. The reported fee is AED 200 per animal. Pets need an ISO microchip, a valid rabies vaccination given after the chip, and an official health certificate. Pets from high-risk countries also need a rabies antibody blood test. Owners may bring at most two companion animals per person per year, with an exception for residents returning home. Sources disagree on how long a permit lasts: MOCCAE’s page says 90 days, while the Abu Dhabi government guide says up to 30. Check your actual permit. To take a pet out of the UAE you need a MOCCAE veterinary health certificate, plus whatever the destination country requires. Moving to the UAE with a cat or dog takes paperwork, and the paperwork has an order. Get the order wrong, for example by vaccinating before microchipping, and you may have to repeat steps and lose weeks. The good news is that the requirements are published, and most of the stress comes from not knowing the sequence. This guide is a plain-words summary of what the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) and the Abu Dhabi government publish, with a clear note on where sources disagree. It is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for the current MOCCAE page or your airline’s rules, so check both before you book anything non-refundable. Do I need a permit to bring a pet into the UAE? Yes. Dogs and cats need an import permit applied for online through MOCCAE before the animal travels. The reported fee is AED 200 per animal. MOCCAE also limits numbers: owners may bring a maximum of two companion animals per person per year, with an exception for residents returning home. If you are moving with more pets than that, plan with a licensed pet relocation company and ask MOCCAE what is allowed. What are the main requirements? The core list is short. Each item has detail behind it, and several have to happen in a particular order. A permanent microchip. The number must match the health certificate and the vaccination record. A valid rabies vaccination, given after the microchip. MOCCAE sets a minimum age: 12 weeks for pets coming from low-risk origins and 15 weeks from high-risk origins. A rabies antibody test for pets from high-risk countries. Third-party guides describe a FAVN test with a result of at least 0.5 IU/ml from an accredited laboratory. MOCCAE’s rules say at least 21 days must pass after a first or lapsed vaccination before testing, and the result is valid for 365 days if the vaccination stays current. An official health certificate from the exporting country’s authority. Parasite treatment within 14 days before shipment. Records that list the microchip number, vaccine name, batch number and date. Mind the order Vaccinating before microchipping is the most common sequencing mistake. The rabies vaccine must be given after the microchip, so if the order is wrong the vaccination may not count and the waiting period can restart. How long is the import permit valid? Sources do not agree, and that matters if your move is delayed. MOCCAE’s own page says the permit is valid for 90 days, while the Abu Dhabi government’s living guide says up to 30 days, and one third-party guide also says 30. We cannot tell which is current, so the safe approach is to check the validity printed on your actual permit and ask MOCCAE to confirm, then plan your flight inside the shorter figure if you can. Topic MOCCAE and official pages Other sources Permit validity 90 days (MOCCAE page) Up to 30 days (Abu Dhabi government guide, one third-party guide) Permit fee AED 200 per animal Consistent across sources Release fee on arrival Not stated on the pages we read Reported as AED 500 per dog and AED 250 per cat Maximum animals Two companion animals per person per year, with a returning-resident exception Consistent across sources How do pets actually travel? Pets usually travel as manifest cargo rather than as checked baggage, on a direct shipment from the exporting country that follows IATA live-animal rules. Many families use a licensed pet relocation company for the booking, crate, paperwork and clearance, and some airlines have their own pet policies. Ask early, because seasonal limits and breed restrictions apply on many routes. Pets that do not meet the requirements can be rejected at the owner’s expense or confiscated, according to MOCCAE. For cat and dog imports, Ministerial Resolution No. 109 of 2021 sets the conditions. Which pets are restricted? Some dog breeds are banned, and others have conditions. MOCCAE’s import page lists banned breeds including the American Pit Bull Terrier, Bullmastiff and Cane Corso, and wolf hybrids are reported as prohibited. Bengal and Serval cats require a fifth-generation pedigree certificate. We explain the breed rules, and where sources disagree, in our guide to banned and restricted dog breeds in the UAE . Good to know Check your pet’s breed against MOCCAE’s current list before you start. If your dog is a mix, ask your vet what they would record on the health certificate. What is a realistic timeline? Every case differs, but the order below is the one the rules imply. Add time for your vet’s appointments and for the blood test result, which can take a while to come back. Check eligibility. Confirm breed, age and number of pets, and read the current MOCCAE page. Microchip your pet with an ISO-compliant chip, if not already done. Vaccinate against rabies after the chip, at or above the minimum age. Blood test, if your origin country requires it. Wait the required number of days after vaccination, then send the sample to an accredited laboratory. Apply for the import permit with MOCCAE and pay the fee. Book the shipment with an airline or relocation company, inside the permit’s validity. Parasite treatment in the 14 days before travel, and the official health certificate. Arrive and clear. Present the documents, pay any release fee, and collect your pet. Once you land, register your pet and keep their records current. For Dubai, see our guide to microchipping and registering your pet . How do I take a pet out of the UAE? To export or re-export a pet you need a MOCCAE veterinary health certificate. It is valid for 30 days, and the reported fee is AED 100 for up to two personal pets (AED 400 is the standard fee). Owners should attend the export point, for example the airport, about 48 hours ahead, with a passport and the vaccination booklet. MOCCAE notes that this service is being transferred to the Emirates Drug Establishment, but it is still accessible through MOCCAE channels. Destination countries have their own rules, which are often stricter than the UAE’s. Titre tests, waiting periods, specific microchip types and import permits are common. Start with the destination’s official website, and give yourself months rather than weeks. What if I am bringing a falcon or an exotic animal? Different rules apply. Falcons, for example, use a separate passport and permit system, and many exotic animals need CITES documents. We cover falcons in our guide to falcon health and travel basics , and for anything else you should ask MOCCAE directly. Moving is stressful for you and for your pet. A calm checklist, a vet who knows the sequence and a buffer in your timeline will do more for everyone’s peace of mind than any shortcut. Quick answers How much does it cost to import a dog or cat into the UAE? The import permit fee is reported as AED 200 per animal. A release fee on arrival has been reported at AED 500 per dog and AED 250 per cat, along with the costs of microchipping, vaccination, testing, the health certificate and transport. How many pets can I bring into the UAE? MOCCAE allows a maximum of two companion animals per person per year, with an exception for residents returning home. How long is a UAE pet import permit valid? MOCCAE’s page says 90 days, while the Abu Dhabi government guide says up to 30 days. Check the validity printed on your permit and confirm with MOCCAE. What do I need to take a pet out of the UAE? A MOCCAE veterinary health certificate, valid for 30 days, plus the destination country’s requirements. What are the general rules for dogs in Abu Dhabi? A quick checklist for your first visit Quick answers Sources Copy link WhatsApp Post Email Key takeaways Abu Dhabi’s government living guide names Al Khubeirah dog park, a dog area in Sheikha Fatima Park, the Falcon Hospital’s dog agility park and the Abu Dhabi Animal Shelter. Al Khubeirah dog park is gated, lets dogs run off-leash inside, and admits only vaccinated dogs older than six months. Hours come from a 2024 press guide rather than the government page, and the agility park’s hours conflict between sources. Phone before you go. Hotels that welcome dogs set their own limits. Two reported examples: dogs up to 18 kg at one Yas Island hotel, and a daily fee at a Dhafra resort. Outside designated areas, keep your dog on a leash and follow posted signs, because many public spaces do not admit dogs. Abu Dhabi is greener and calmer than many visitors expect, and for dog owners the capital has a handful of places built with dogs in mind. They are not many, and the rules vary from place to place, so a little preparation makes the difference between a joyful outing and a wasted drive. This guide brings together what the Abu Dhabi government’s “Living with pets” guide says, what recent press guides report, and where sources disagree. Where we are not sure of something, we say so. Please check signage and the venue’s own channels before you go, because hours and rules change. What are the main dog parks in Abu Dhabi? The government guide names three dog-focused places, and a press guide adds a fourth. The table summarises what each source says, with the confidence level. Place Area What sources say Al Khubeirah dog park Al Khubeirah Opened in 2022. Gated, with dogs allowed off-leash inside. Only vaccinated dogs older than six months may enter. Separate areas for small and large dogs, drinking stations and play equipment (government guide). Sheikha Fatima Park, Bark Park Al Bateen A fenced pet area for dogs inside a family park (government guide). Press guides also mention a splash area, skate park and play area in the wider park. Al Masar Park, dog section Khalifa City A dedicated dog section with a playground for small and large dogs (press guide, 2024). Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital dog agility park Al Shamkhah Agility training from basic to advanced for dogs of all sizes (government guide). Hours conflict between sources, so call first. You will find all four, with their sources and the date we checked them, in the Abu Dhabi section of Mori’s local guide . What are the rules at Al Khubeirah dog park? Al Khubeirah is the best known. It is gated, which is what makes the off-leash area possible, and the government guide says only vaccinated dogs over six months old may enter. The park has separate areas for small and large dogs, which is a kindness to nervous small dogs, and it has drinking stations and play equipment. Bring proof of vaccination. The park admits only vaccinated dogs, so keep the record with you. Our guide to rabies and core vaccinations explains what to carry. Check your dog’s age. Puppies under six months are not admitted. Leash up outside. Being off-leash is a feature of the fenced area only, and public-space rules apply outside it. Pick up after your dog, as everywhere in the UAE. A 2024 press guide lists daily opening hours, but the government page does not state hours, so treat them as a guide and check before a long drive. Timing matters Go early in summer. A shaded, fenced park is lovely in October, but in the hot months the middle of the day is risky even for dogs that love to run. See our guide to walking your dog in the UAE heat . What about the Falcon Hospital agility park and the animal shelter? Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital runs a dog agility park with training from basic to advanced, and the government guide says it welcomes dogs of all sizes. This is a place for training sessions rather than a casual drop-in park, so expect to book and to pay. Its hours are a good example of why we ask you to phone ahead: one press guide gives a daytime window, an older volunteer list gives different hours and a fee, and a ticketing listing reports it as temporarily closed. We cannot tell you which is current. The Abu Dhabi Animal Shelter is managed by Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital and sits on its site between Abu Dhabi International Airport and Al Shamkha. If you are thinking of adopting or volunteering, contact the shelter through its own channels for visiting and adoption rules rather than turning up. Can I stay in a hotel with my dog in Abu Dhabi? Some hotels welcome dogs, and each sets its own rules. An August 2026 guide from The National to dog-friendly hotels in the UAE reports two examples. At W Abu Dhabi on Yas Island, dogs up to 18 kg are welcome for a non-refundable Dh350, with a microchip and an up-to-date vaccination card required at check-in, and the hotel has pet-friendly green spaces. At Aldhafra Resort in the Al Dhafra region, dogs and cats are welcome for Dh70 a day plus a Dh350 deep-cleaning fee. The guide does not state weight limits, pet numbers or vaccination rules for the second. These details come from one press guide and can change, so confirm everything with the hotel when you book. Ask about size limits, the number of pets, fees, which rooms and areas are allowed, and whether the dog can be left alone in the room. We have put together a checklist in our guide to checking a venue’s pet policy . Are cafes and beaches dog-friendly in Abu Dhabi? A few cafes are reported to welcome dogs, usually outdoors, but that information mostly comes from older press and volunteer lists, so treat it as a lead rather than a promise. Beaches are the area to be most careful. Abu Dhabi has restricted dogs from many beaches, parks and malls in the past, and one old list names a Yas Island beach as dog-friendly while stressing that official signs must be respected. Rules have changed over the years, and we could not find a current official statement to settle it. When in doubt Do not assume a public beach, park or mall allows dogs. If there is no sign and no official source, ask the operator or choose a designated dog area instead. What are the general rules for dogs in Abu Dhabi? Federal rules apply across the UAE: dogs should be licensed and on a leash in public places, and owners must clean up after them. Some dog breeds are banned, as we explain in our guide to banned and restricted dog breeds . If you are bringing a dog into Abu Dhabi, you need an import permit first: AED 200 for dogs and cats, with a microchip and a full vaccination record, and at most two pets per owner. Sources disagree on how long a permit stays valid, as we explain in our import guide . A quick checklist for your first visit Phone or check the venue’s page for today’s hours and rules. Bring your dog’s vaccination record and microchip details. Carry water, a bowl and waste bags. Keep a leash on until you are inside a designated off-leash area. Learn the signs of overheating, and know where the nearest 24-hour vet is. Abu Dhabi’s dog places are few, but they are well worth knowing. And if you find a place that has changed its rules, or one that we are missing, tell us and we will check it. Quick answers Is there an off-leash dog park in Abu Dhabi? Yes. Al Khubeirah dog park is gated and lets dogs run off-leash inside. Only vaccinated dogs older than six months are admitted, according to the Abu Dhabi government guide. What are the opening hours of Abu Dhabi’s dog parks? The government page does not state hours. A 2024 press guide gives daily hours for some parks, and the Falcon Hospital agility park’s hours conflict between sources, so phone before you go. Which hotels in Abu Dhabi allow dogs? A 2026 press guide reports W Abu Dhabi on Yas Island (dogs up to 18 kg, Dh350 non-refundable fee) and Aldhafra Resort (Dh70 per day plus a Dh350 cleaning fee). Confirm policies with the hotel. Can I take my dog to a public beach in Abu Dhabi? Do not assume so. Abu Dhabi has restricted dogs from many beaches, parks and malls, and we could not find a current official statement. Follow posted signs and ask the operator. How do I keep a falcon healthy? Where do I find an avian or falcon vet? What should I do when I travel or board my falcon? Quick answers Sources Copy link WhatsApp Post Email Key takeaways The UAE requires registration of captive-bred falcons with Ministry-issued closed rings, and offers services for transfer and cancellation of ownership. A falcon passport, introduced in 2002, is a CITES-compliant document that allows permit-free movement. It includes falcon and owner details, requires a closed leg ring and is valid for three years. Importing or re-exporting CITES-listed species without a valid permit carries severe penalties, so check before any trip. Falcons tend to hide illness. Keep a consistent record of weight and condition and share it with an avian vet. Avian and raptor vets are specialists. Know which clinic treats falcons, and save its number before you need it. Falcons are part of the UAE’s heritage, and for many owners they are family, partners and a serious responsibility all at once. They also live under a more detailed rulebook than a cat or a dog, because they are protected under international wildlife agreements. If you are new to falconry, or you are a long-time owner who wants a clear summary, this guide covers the essentials: the paperwork, the routines that keep a falcon healthy and the places to turn for help. It is general information, not legal or veterinary advice. Falcon husbandry is best learned from experienced falconers and specialist vets, and the rules are set by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE), so check with them for your own situation. Do falcons have to be registered in the UAE? Yes. According to a 2026 UAE presentation on regulating falconry, the country requires registration of captive-bred birds with Ministry-issued closed rings, and it provides services for ownership transfer and cancellation when needed. The rings, especially closed rings, help ensure that falcons used in trade and sport are captive-bred. The wider legal background includes Federal Law No. 24 of 1990, which bans hunting, possession or trade of falcons without a permit, and Federal Law No. 11 of 2002, which regulates international trade in endangered species. A 2025 federal law sets strict penalties, of up to 15 years’ imprisonment and AED 2 million, for importing, re-exporting or introducing from the sea any CITES-listed species without a valid permit. The point of listing these is not to alarm you but to show why paperwork matters. What is a falcon passport? A falcon passport is a document that allows a registered falcon to travel internationally with its owner without a separate permit for each trip. The UAE says it was the first country in the world to launch one, in 2002, to set a global standard for regulating falcon ownership and international movement under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). Feature What the UAE presentation says Introduced 2002 Purpose A CITES-compliant document for permit-free movement Contents Falcon and owner details Identification Requires a closed leg ring Validity Three years Other sources add details, such as microchips and registration steps, and an older press report gave a registration fee. Fees and issuing offices differ between older sources, one reporting Dh100 and another Dh500, and the issuing arrangements may have changed since the ministry took over the CITES role. Treat older figures with caution and ask MOCCAE or an authorised falcon hospital for the current process. Do not let it lapse Passports expire. Mark the three-year date in your calendar, and start renewal well before any planned trip. A lapsed passport can mean extra permits and delays. What about CITES permits? Where a passport does not apply, for example for imports of a new bird, you need a CITES permit. MOCCAE issues digital CITES permits for Appendices I, II and III, with secure QR code verification, recognised by 184 CITES member countries. The presentation lists import permits as valid for one year and export or re-export permits as valid for six months. Always check the validity on the permit itself. Travel rules are not only about the UAE. Destination countries and airlines have their own requirements for live birds, and some require health certificates and quarantine. For a general picture of how pet imports and exports work, see our guide to bringing a pet into or out of the UAE , and then ask MOCCAE what applies to a falcon. How do I keep a falcon healthy? Specialists agree on a few principles, even though the detail depends on the species, the individual bird and the season. We stay at the level of general guidance here, because falcon management is a specialist skill. Monitor weight and condition. A raptor care sheet from a US veterinary centre says monitoring weight and condition is vital, and that falcons often stay healthiest within tight weight ranges specific to each bird. There is no single target for every falcon, so your vet or an experienced falconer should help you find your bird’s range. Weigh consistently. Weighing at the same time of day, with the same scale, makes changes easier to see. Write the numbers down. In Mori, falcon weights are recorded in grams for this reason. Expect changes in the moult and breeding season. The same care sheet notes that even tame birds can become aggressive during moult, in breeding season or after poor handling, so handle with extra care. Do not wait for obvious signs. Falcons tend to conceal illness, so a bird that looks quiet or off its usual routine deserves attention sooner rather than later. Prevent problems. Regular check-ups, clean housing, fresh water and a stable routine matter more than any quick fix. A falcon hides illness until it can’t. Notice small changes early. A record helps Keep a simple log: date, weight, food, flying or exercise, and anything unusual. A vet can learn more from three months of notes than from a single visit. Where do I find an avian or falcon vet? Not every small-animal clinic treats falcons, so find a specialist before you need one. Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital describes itself as providing health care services exclusively for falcons, and says it receives around 11,200 falcons a year for examinations and treatment. Its site lists falcon medical services with a 24-hour emergency service, regular hours of Monday to Thursday 8:00 to 14:30 and Friday 8:00 to 12:00, a hotel for falcons and parrots, and a location on Al Sha-i’ Street in Al Shamkha, Abu Dhabi. Its general number is +971 2 885 8100. Hours can change, so phone before you travel. Mori’s local guide lists vets that say they treat falcons or birds, with their sources and the date we checked each one. Choose the Falcons filter to see them. For emergencies in general, our guide to finding a 24-hour emergency vet explains what to ask on the phone. What should I do when I travel or board my falcon? Falcons need careful handling when you are away. Some falcon hospitals offer a hotel for falcons, and you should ask how birds are housed, fed and exercised, what records they keep and what happens in an emergency. If a friend or family member looks after your bird, give them written instructions, your vet’s details and your bird’s weight log. Keep the passport, ring details and ownership papers together, and take copies. Tell your vet before long journeys, and ask about health checks. Plan for heat: the UAE summer affects birds too, so keep them cool and shaded, with fresh water. Never leave a bird in a parked car. Falcons ask more of their owners than most pets do, and that is part of their appeal. With the right paperwork, a good vet and a steady routine, you can enjoy them with confidence. Quick answers What is a falcon passport in the UAE? A CITES-compliant document introduced in 2002 that allows permit-free movement for a registered falcon. It includes falcon and owner details, requires a closed leg ring and is valid for three years, according to a 2026 UAE presentation. Do I need to register my falcon in the UAE? The UAE requires registration of captive-bred falcons with Ministry-issued closed rings, and offers services for ownership transfer and cancellation. Check with MOCCAE for the current process. How long is a CITES permit valid in the UAE? The UAE presentation lists import permits as valid for one year and export or re-export permits as valid for six months. Check the dates printed on your permit. What should I ask when I phone? Which signs mean “go now”? What should I do before I leave? How can I prepare now? Quick answers Sources Copy link WhatsApp Post Email Key takeaways Save one 24-hour clinic in your phone before you need it, and learn which one is closest to home and to your usual routes. Always phone before you set off. “24/7” on a website can still mean a vet on call rather than on site, and a quick call confirms they can see your pet now. Go to a vet straight away for breathing trouble, collapse, seizures, suspected poisoning, heavy bleeding, heatstroke, injury from a fall or car, a swollen belly with retching, or being unable to urinate. Do not give human medicines or try to make your pet vomit unless a vet tells you to. Bring packaging from anything your pet ate. Directories and websites differ on opening hours, so rely on the clinic itself for the final word. Emergencies rarely wait for opening hours. A dog that swallows something on a Friday evening, a cat that cannot pass urine at two in the morning, a puppy that collapses after a hot walk: these are the moments when you need an answer quickly and your usual vet is closed. In a crisis you will not want to be searching through websites with a shaking hand. This guide is meant to be read in advance. It explains how to find a clinic that is open round the clock, what to check on the phone, which signs mean you should go now, and what to do before you get there. It is general guidance and cannot replace a vet’s advice, so when in doubt, phone a clinic. In an emergency If you think your pet is having an emergency, do not wait for an app or an article. Phone your vet or a 24-hour clinic now. Which UAE clinics say they are open 24 hours? A small number of clinics state on their own websites that they are open around the clock. Mori’s local guide records those statements, with the source and the date we checked, and we have found the following. These are the clinics’ own claims, so always phone before travelling. Clinic Area What its own site says Modern Vet Hospital (Al Wasl) Al Wasl Road, Dubai Open 24/7, all year, with emergency walk-ins accepted Umm Suqeim Veterinary Centre Al Wasl Road, Dubai Open 24 hours, with a 24/7 emergency and referral service DKC Veterinary Clinic Motor City, Dubai Clinic open 24/7, with appointments recommended; some directories list shorter hours Vets24 Veterinary Clinic Al Refaa, Ras Al Khaimah Titled a 24/7 vet clinic, with 24/7 emergency care Vets24 Veterinary Clinic Al Faseel, Fujairah Lists 24/7 emergency care at its Fujairah branch You will see that most of the confirmed clinics are in Dubai, with two in the northern emirates, and that is a real gap. Several clinics offer an out-of-hours emergency phone line without being open 24 hours, and one clinic’s own pages disagree with each other about whether a branch is open all day and night. We list only what a clinic itself states, and we would rather show a gap than guess. You can filter for places open 24 hours in the local guide . Find your closest If you live in Al Barsha, the nearest confirmed 24-hour options in our data are on Al Wasl Road in Umm Suqeim. Whatever your neighbourhood, find yours today and save it. What does “24/7” actually mean? It can mean a vet is on site all night, or it can mean the clinic takes emergency calls and a vet comes in. Both can be perfectly good care, but they are different when you are standing outside at 3 a.m. That is why the first thing to do is phone. Open 24 hours: the clinic is staffed around the clock, though a specific procedure may still need a specialist to be called in. Emergency line: a phone number answered out of hours, which may direct you to a partner clinic or a vet on call. Partner cover: your usual clinic hands emergencies to another clinic overnight. Websites and directories are not always up to date. If a listing says one thing and a phone call says another, trust the call. What should I ask when I phone? Keep the call short and clear. Tell them your pet’s species, size and what has happened, and ask the questions below. “Is a vet on site now, and can you see my pet?” “Should I come straight away, and is there anything I should do on the way?” “How long will it take to be seen, and is there an emergency fee I should know about?” “Where do I park, and which door should I use at night?” Ask them to repeat the address if you are unsure, and put it into your maps app before you leave. Keep the line open if you can, because they may give you instructions while you drive. Which signs mean “go now”? Vets commonly advise getting urgent help for any of the following. This is not a complete list, and if you are worried, that is reason enough to phone. Difficulty breathing, blue or very pale gums, or choking. Collapse, unresponsiveness or seizures. Suspected poisoning, for example chocolate, xylitol (a sweetener), grapes or raisins, onions, garlic, lilies (dangerous to cats), antifreeze, rat poison, or human medicines such as paracetamol and ibuprofen. Heavy bleeding that does not stop, or a serious wound. A road accident or a fall from a balcony or window, even if your pet seems fine. Heatstroke signs. See our guide to recognising and treating heatstroke in pets . A swollen, hard belly, or retching without bringing anything up, especially in deep-chested dogs. Straining to pass urine or being unable to, which is especially urgent in male cats. A snake or scorpion bite or sting. Vomiting blood, or blood in the stool or urine. If you are wondering whether it is an emergency, phone. That is what the number is for. What should I do before I leave? Keep it calm and quick. Your pet takes cues from you. Phone the clinic first, so they can prepare. Bring what your pet swallowed, or its packaging, a photo of the label, or a sample of the plant. Do not give medicines and do not try to make your pet vomit unless a vet tells you to. Some substances do more harm coming back up. Keep your pet warm or cool as needed, and as still as possible. For heat problems, start cooling on the way. Use a carrier or a secure lead. A frightened, hurt animal may bite, so handle with care. Another person can drive while you sit with your pet. Take the paperwork: vaccination record, medical history, regular vet’s name and any medicines your pet takes. If you keep your pet’s records on your phone, for instance in Mori’s health records , you can show the vet vaccines, medicines and allergies in seconds. How can I prepare now? An emergency is much easier when you have done five minutes of thinking in advance. Save your regular vet and one 24-hour clinic in your phone, labelled clearly. Check the route and parking, and how long it takes at night. Keep a pet carrier or secure lead where you can reach it quickly. Keep a copy of your pet’s records on your phone and in a folder. Ask your vet what they recommend for emergencies and which clinic they partner with. Check your pet insurance for emergency cover and any rules about which clinics to use. Maggy, the assistant in Mori, can also help you find a clinic quickly. If a message mentions signs of an emergency, she skips the chat and shows 24-hour clinics with phone numbers first, because that is what matters in that moment. She gives general guidance and cannot diagnose, so please always call a vet. Quick answers Are there 24-hour vets in Dubai? Several clinics state on their own websites that they are open 24 hours, including Modern Vet Hospital and Umm Suqeim Veterinary Centre on Al Wasl Road and DKC Veterinary Clinic in Motor City. Phone before you travel to confirm a vet can see your pet. Are there 24-hour vets outside Dubai? Vets24 states on its website that its Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah clinics offer 24/7 emergency care. Coverage in other emirates is thinner, so check clinics directly and keep a plan. Should I phone before going to an emergency vet? Yes. A call confirms that a vet is on site and can see your pet, lets the clinic prepare and may give you instructions for the journey. Should I make my pet vomit if it ate something toxic? Not unless a vet tells you to. Some substances cause more harm coming back up. Phone a vet immediately and bring the packaging. What should I do in the first minutes? What should I avoid doing? Where do I go for emergency care in the UAE? How can I prevent heatstroke? Quick answers Sources Copy link WhatsApp Post Email Key takeaways Heatstroke is an emergency. If you suspect it, cool your pet down and phone a vet at once, even if your pet seems to be recovering. Early signs include heavy panting, drooling, restlessness and weakness. Collapse, vomiting, diarrhoea, red gums and seizures are serious signs. Puppies, older pets, flat-faced breeds, thick-coated pets and pets with health conditions are at higher risk. Veterinary guidance is “cool first, transport second”: stop the heating, cool with water, then travel to a vet in a cooled car, calling ahead. Never leave a pet in a parked car in the UAE, even briefly. Most pet owners in the UAE know the summer is tough on animals. Fewer know exactly what heatstroke looks like in the first minutes, which is when your response matters most. This guide is written to be read before you need it, and to be easy to follow if you are reading it with a panting dog beside you and your heart pounding. Act now If you think your pet has heatstroke, this is an emergency. Start cooling and phone a vet now. Do not wait to see whether it passes. This page is general guidance and cannot replace a vet’s advice. What is heatstroke in pets? Heatstroke happens when a pet’s body temperature rises higher than it can cope with, and the normal ways of cooling down, mainly panting in dogs, are no longer enough. It can develop from heat exhaustion, a milder stage that is your warning to stop and cool your pet before things get worse. In the UAE the hot months, roughly May to September, bring high temperatures and high humidity, which makes it harder for panting to work. Hot ground, cars, balconies without shade and outdoor kennels are the usual settings. Even a short, excited game in the wrong place at the wrong time can be enough for a vulnerable animal. What are the signs of heatstroke in dogs? Look for a combination of heavy panting that does not settle, drooling that becomes thick or sticky, weakness or tiredness, restlessness or confusion, and refusing to walk. Collapse is a sign the situation is severe. Because signs can escalate quickly, treat any of these on a hot day as a reason to stop and cool your dog. Early signs: heavy panting, drooling, restlessness, tiredness, a dry nose, reluctance to keep moving. Serious signs: a fast heartbeat, noisy or fast breathing, red gums with heavy breathing, muscle spasms or shivering, vomiting or diarrhoea, collapse, and seizures. Dehydration signs: sunken eyes, infrequent urination, dry gums or nose. Veterinary charities also note that blood in vomit or stool can mean heatstroke has become more severe. In every case, the right response is the same: cool your pet and get veterinary help. Cool first, transport second. Which pets are at highest risk? Any animal can overheat, but some are more vulnerable. Those with health conditions, especially breathing problems, those with thick coats, very young and older animals, and flat-faced breeds are at higher risk. Flat-faced dogs cannot pant as effectively because of the shape of their airways, so they can run into trouble much faster than other dogs. Flat-faced (brachycephalic) dogs and cats, such as bulldogs, pugs, Persians and similar breeds. Puppies, kittens and senior pets. Overweight pets and pets with heart or lung conditions. Pets with thick or double coats. Any pet shut in a hot room, car or enclosure, or exercised hard in the heat. Rabbits, guinea pigs, birds and other small animals can also suffer in heat, and they cannot be walked to a cool spot. If you keep them, move them to a cool, shaded, ventilated room and ask your vet about the right way to cool each species. What should I do in the first minutes? Stop whatever is heating your pet, start cooling, and call a vet. The order matters, because every minute of overheating can add to the damage. Stop the heating. End the exercise. Move your pet into the shade or an air-conditioned room, or out of a hot car or building. Cool with water. Pour or spray cool water over the neck, stomach and thighs, and avoid the head. If your pet is conscious and otherwise healthy, some veterinary guidance allows a cool bath, but if you are unsure, spraying with room-temperature water is the safer choice. Add airflow. A fan or air conditioning helps the water evaporate and cool the skin. Offer small sips of water if your pet is alert. Do not force water into a pet that is drowsy or collapsing. Phone a vet. Tell them what happened, and ask where to take your pet. Travel in a cooled, well-ventilated car, and keep cooling on the way if you can. Cool, not icy Water temperature is the point on which guidance differs. UAE sources advise cool rather than ice-cold water, while the RSPCA notes that cold water rarely causes shock in overheated dogs. In both cases ice itself is not needed. If in doubt, ask the vet you phone. What should I avoid doing? Good intentions can make things worse. The most common mistakes are placing damp towels directly over your pet’s body, which can trap heat, using ice or ice-cold water without advice, and waiting at home to see whether your pet recovers. Do not leave your pet alone while you search for a clinic, and do not give any medicine unless a vet tells you to. Do not wrap your pet in towels that hold heat. If you use towels, place wet ones underneath and re-wet them often. Do not give human painkillers or other medicines. Do not skip the vet because your pet “seems fine now”. Heatstroke can damage organs even after your pet looks better, so a check-up is important. Where do I go for emergency care in the UAE? Phone ahead to the nearest clinic that is open and can take emergencies, because not every clinic is staffed overnight. A few UAE clinics say on their own websites that they operate around the clock, and we list how to find them, and what to check, in our guide to finding a 24-hour emergency vet in the UAE . You can also search the local guide with the 24-hour filter. Save two numbers in your phone today: your regular vet, and one clinic that is open 24 hours. In an emergency you will not want to search. How can I prevent heatstroke? Prevention is mostly planning. Keep walks to the cool ends of the day, test the ground with the back of your hand, carry water, and never leave pets in a parked car. We cover walking routines in detail in our guide to walking your dog in the UAE heat . Provide fresh water and a shaded, ventilated place at home at all times. Keep balconies and outdoor spaces shaded, and never leave pets outside through the heat of the day. Choose gentler exercise for higher-risk pets, and slow down early. Ask your vet whether a summer clip or coat care is right for your pet. Do not shave a double coat without advice. The calmest way to handle heatstroke is to have a plan before it happens. Read the steps once, tell the people who look after your pet, and keep a vet’s number close. If you ever need it, you will be glad you did. Quick answers What are the first signs of heatstroke in a dog? Heavy panting that does not settle, drooling, restlessness, weakness and tiredness. More serious signs are a fast heartbeat, red gums, vomiting, diarrhoea, collapse and seizures. Stop, cool your dog and phone a vet. Should I use ice-cold water to cool a dog with heatstroke? Use cool water and airflow, and skip the ice. Guidance varies slightly: UAE sources say cool rather than ice-cold, while the RSPCA says cold water rarely causes shock. Phone a vet and follow their advice. Does my pet still need a vet if it seems better after cooling down? Yes. Heatstroke can harm organs even when a pet looks recovered, so get a veterinary check after any suspected case. Which pets are most at risk of heatstroke? Flat-faced breeds, puppies, older pets, thick-coated pets, overweight pets and pets with heart or breathing conditions, along with any pet left in a hot car or enclosure. How do I check a hotel’s pet policy? How do I check a café or restaurant? Which sources can I trust? What if someone can look after my pet? How can Mori help? Quick answers Sources Copy link WhatsApp Post Email Key takeaways “Pet-friendly” is not one rule. It can mean a terrace only, small dogs only, a fee, vaccination proof, or a fenced dog park, so always ask what it means at that place. In the UAE, dogs must be on a leash in public. Most municipal beaches, parks and malls are reported as no-pet areas, so rely on designated places that say they welcome pets. Prefer the venue’s own page, phone or email, or an official tourism authority. Treat lists, blogs and social posts as leads to confirm. Check size and weight limits, fees, how many pets, vaccination and ID rules, where the pet may go, and whether someone can look after your pet. Policies change, so note the date you checked and ask again before a booking you cannot cancel. Most pet owners in the UAE have had the same awkward experience: you read that a place is “pet-friendly”, you arrive with your dog, and a friendly person at the door explains that it means “on the terrace, only small dogs, with a fee”, or perhaps that it does not mean that at all. The problem is not that people are unkind. It is that “pet-friendly” is a marketing phrase, not a rule. This guide gives you a simple method for checking before you go, shows what UAE rules and examples look like, and explains how to judge the lists you find online. We do not name any business here without a source, and everything below comes with a checked date. What does “pet-friendly” actually mean? It means whatever the place says it means, and that can vary a great deal. The same phrase can describe a fenced dog park with an off-leash area, a hotel that allows two small dogs in selected rooms for a fee, or a café that lets leashed dogs sit on the terrace. Each has different rules, and your pet may be welcome at one and turned away at another. If a place says… It might mean… Ask… Pet-friendly hotel Specific rooms, a weight limit, a fee, vaccination proof What are the limits, fees and rules, and can I leave my pet alone in the room? Dog-friendly café Terrace only, on a leash, sometimes indoors Is it outside only, and is there water and shade? Dog park Fenced off-leash area with entry rules Is there an age or vaccination rule, and what are the hours? Pets welcome Dogs only, or small pets only Which animals, and how many? What are the basic rules for dogs in public in the UAE? Federal Law No. 22 of 2016 requires dogs to be licensed and restrained by collar and leash on public property, and owners must pick up and dispose of their dog’s waste. Press reports note fines for serious breaches, though we could not confirm a single official schedule. Many municipal public beaches, such as Kite Beach, JBR Beach and La Mer, and most public parks are reported as no-pet areas, and the Dubai Marina promenade has been described as off-limits to dogs. Check with the municipality or the operator for the current position. Most malls do not admit pets, although exceptions are reported, such as Golden Mile Galleria on Palm Jumeirah, where dogs are allowed on a leash or in a carrier, and the outdoor areas of City Walk. Treat those as examples to confirm, not guarantees. The reliable approach is to use designated places that say, in their own words, that they welcome pets. Dubai Islands Beach, for instance, has a fenced 460 square metre leash-free dog park and a dog swimming area, with the beach open from sunrise to sunset, according to a Nakheel press release from 2023. The JLT community dog park run by DMCC has published rules: reported hours of 8:00 to 21:00, a maximum of two dogs per handler, dogs must wear the Dubai Municipality tag and be over four months old. How do I check a hotel’s pet policy? Go to the hotel itself, not to a list. Look on the hotel’s website for a pet policy page, then phone or email to confirm and ask for the answer in writing. Questions to ask: Which pets are allowed (dogs, cats, others), and how many? Is there a size or weight limit? What are the fees, including any cleaning fee, and are they refundable? Do I need a vaccination card, microchip or municipality tag at check-in? Which rooms, floors and public areas can my pet use? Is there a pet-friendly lobby, terrace or garden? Can my pet be left alone in the room, even briefly? Is there pet-sitting, kennel care or a walking service? Real examples show how much this varies. In Ras Al Khaimah, the emirate’s tourism authority lists hotels that welcome pets: Mövenpick Resort Al Marjan Island offers 14 pet-specific rooms for dogs and cats; Al Hamra Village Hotel offers suites with outdoor areas and pet beds and bowls; Sofitel Al Hamra Beach Resort says multiple types of pets besides dogs and cats are allowed; and the glamping site Banan Beach requires pet ID, a collar and vaccination. The page does not give weight limits, fees or pet numbers for most venues, which is exactly why a phone call is needed. Get it in writing Ask for the policy by email and keep it. If a place changes its mind at check-in, you will have something to show. How do I check a café or restaurant? Call or message the venue, because policies often depend on the area of the restaurant and the time. Ask whether pets are allowed inside, on the terrace or only in an outdoor area, whether they must be on a leash or in a carrier, and whether there are rules about size. Some places mention pets on social media, but a post can be old, so confirm. Terraces are the most common option. Indoor access is rarer. Check the weather: a sunny terrace in summer is not a good place for a dog. Bring water, a mat and waste bags, and be ready to leave if your pet is unsettled. In Ras Al Khaimah, for example, the tourism authority names 1484 by Puro on Jebel Jais, where leashed pets are welcome on the terrace, and The Bay at Al Hamra Golf Club, which welcomes pets indoors and on the terrace and rooftop. Again, confirm directly before you travel. Which sources can I trust? Rank them by closeness to the place. The venue itself and official tourism or municipality pages come first. Reputable press guides come second and are useful for ideas. Aggregators, forums and old social posts are leads only. Source How much to trust it What to do The venue’s own page, phone or email Highest Ask for the policy in writing Tourism authority or municipality page High Check the date and confirm details with the venue Recent press guide Medium Use it to find places, then confirm Directories, booking sites and old lists Low Confirm everything, especially fees and limits Watch for red flags: no date on the page, a list that has been copied between sites, fees or weight limits that differ between sources, or claims that a place “allows all pets” with no detail. Where sources conflict, the honest answer is “we are not sure”, and you should ask. What if someone can look after my pet? This is often the real question: not only “can my pet come?”, but “what happens if my pet cannot come in everywhere?”. Some hotels offer pet-sitting, kennel care or walking services, and some places have a pet area where staff supervise. If your plans include a restaurant or an event where pets are not allowed, ask about care options in advance, or arrange a sitter you trust. Our guide to local care options in the local guide lists boarding and sitting services with their sources. How can Mori help? Mori’s local guide shows sources and the date we checked each place, so you can see where a claim came from. We are also working on a way to see pet-friendly places, their rules and the care available at a glance, and you can read about it on our pet-friendly places page . In the meantime, use the checklist above, and save yourself the awkward moment at the door. Check again Rules change. A policy that was true last month may not be true today, so confirm before any booking you cannot cancel. If your pet is a banned breed, check the rules first. See our guide to banned and restricted dog breeds . Quick answers Are dogs allowed on public beaches in Dubai? Quick answers Sources Copy link WhatsApp Post Email Key takeaways In Dubai, cats and dogs are microchipped and registered with Dubai Municipality, normally through a licensed vet clinic or the municipality’s own clinic. Bring your Emirates ID, your pet’s details and an up-to-date vaccination record, including rabies. Gulf News (updated September 2024) lists the full steps. Registration is renewed every year, usually at the annual rabies vaccination, when the clinic updates your pet’s record and gives you the new year’s tag. Fees reported by Gulf News were Dh10 plus VAT for registration and Dh20 plus VAT for a knowledge and innovation fee. Confirm current amounts with the clinic or the municipality. Other emirates run their own processes. Check with your local municipality, because we have not verified them here. Registering a pet sounds like the sort of job that can wait until after the move, the holiday or the school run. In Dubai it is worth doing early, because the same registration is tied to your pet’s microchip and vaccinations, and several dog parks and venues ask to see the municipality tag. The process is simpler than it looks once you know the order of the steps. This guide explains it in plain words, using Dubai Municipality’s own pages and a detailed Gulf News guide that was updated in September 2024. Rules and fees can change, so treat the numbers here as a guide and confirm them when you book. Do I have to microchip and register my pet in Dubai? Yes, for cats and dogs. Dubai Municipality runs pet registration services to register, microchip and update records for cats and dogs, and in practice the work is done at a licensed vet clinic that uploads the record to the municipality. Registration also depends on your pet’s vaccinations being up to date. A few other facts shape why people do it promptly. Federal rules require dogs to be licensed and kept on a leash in public places, and community dog parks such as the one at Jumeirah Lakes Towers ask dogs to wear the municipality tag. We cover the wider rules in our guide to checking a venue’s pet policy . What is a microchip and why does it matter? A microchip is a tiny capsule, about the size of a grain of rice, that a vet places under your pet’s skin. It carries a unique number that can be read with a scanner. The number is linked to your contact details, so a lost pet found by a vet or shelter can be traced back to you. In the registration form the microchip number becomes the animal’s ID, and it is also the number that appears on vaccination records and travel documents. If you plan to move a pet in or out of the UAE, the chip has to match the paperwork, which is why we recommend chipping first. Our guide to bringing a pet into the UAE explains the travel side. What do I need to bring? Have these ready before you book, and the visit will be quick. A copy of the front and back of your Emirates ID . Your personal details : address and phone number. Your pet’s name, date of birth, breed, gender and colour . A vaccination record showing the latest rabies vaccination and its expiry date. Proof of microchip , if your pet already has one. The number is often printed on the vaccination record. A clear photo of your pet , for the online form. Good to know If your pet has not yet had a rabies vaccination, ask the clinic about the order of steps. Rabies protection and registration are linked, as we explain in our guide to rabies and core vaccinations . How does the registration process work, step by step? There are two routes: register in person at a clinic, or start online and finish with a vet. The online route runs through the municipality’s website, and Gulf News describes it like this. Book a clinic. Choose a licensed private vet clinic or Dubai Municipality’s own clinic. The municipality’s veterinary clinics include Al Khawaneej, Al Lisaili and Hatta, and appointments for pet clinics are requested through the municipality website. Get the chip if needed. The vet checks your pet is healthy enough, records its details and implants the chip. Apply online, if you prefer. Log in with UAE Pass, search for “Register Pets and Farm Animals”, choose “Apply Now”, and pick the application type “Individual” and the animal type “Pet animal”. For a first registration, choose “New”. Fill in the details. You will choose a municipality or private clinic, give your contact details and preferred language (Arabic or English), your location, and your pet’s name, microchip number, species, breed, gender, colour, rabies status and date of birth. Upload files. A PDF of the photo and the vaccination record. Confirm and save. You will receive a reference number, and the clinic contacts you to arrange a visit, which Gulf News says is within one to two days. Complete the visit. Bring your Emirates ID, the vaccination record and proof of microchip. The clinic finishes the registration and gives you the tag. The chip is the ID. The tag is the proof. How much does it cost? Gulf News reported a registration fee of Dh10 plus VAT and a “knowledge and innovation” fee of Dh20 plus VAT for a cat or dog, applying at Al Khawaneej or an accredited private clinic. Clinics add their own charges for the consultation, the microchip and any vaccination, and those vary from clinic to clinic. Item What the sources say How sure are we? Registration fee Dh10 plus VAT (Gulf News, updated September 2024) Reported by press; confirm with the clinic or Dubai Municipality Knowledge and innovation fee Dh20 plus VAT (Gulf News) Reported by press; confirm before paying Microchip and consultation Set by each clinic Ask for a quote when you book Fines for unregistered pets Different amounts appear in secondary sources We could not confirm any amount on an official page, so we do not print one We have deliberately left out fine amounts. Secondary sources quote different figures, and Dubai Municipality’s veterinary page does not list them, so the honest answer is that you should check with the municipality directly. How often do I renew? Registration is renewed every year. In practice it happens at your pet’s yearly rabies vaccination: the clinic re-registers the pet, updates the details and gives you the Dubai Municipality tag for the new year. Put the vaccination date in your calendar, or let a care planner remind you, so it does not slip. If you change address or phone number, tell the clinic so the record stays accurate. A microchip is only useful if the contact details attached to it are current. Where can I go in Dubai? Any licensed private vet clinic can normally handle it, and the municipality has its own veterinary clinics in Al Khawaneej, Al Lisaili and Hatta. The municipality’s page lists a contact number of 800900 and pet-clinic hours of Sunday to Thursday, 7:30 to 14:30 and Friday 8:00 to 11:30. Hours change, so check before you travel. To find a clinic near you, search the local guide for vets in your emirate. Every listing shows its sources and when we last checked it. What about Abu Dhabi and the other emirates? Registration is run by each emirate’s own authority, so the steps, forms and fees can differ. We have verified the Dubai process above, but we have not verified the registration rules for the other emirates for this guide. If you live in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah or Fujairah, ask a local licensed vet or your municipality what applies, and bring the same basics: Emirates ID, vaccination record and microchip details. Before you move Rules can differ between emirates, and arriving from abroad has its own requirements. Check before you travel with your pet, and keep the vaccination record and microchip number somewhere you can find them quickly. A little admin now saves a lot of stress later. With a chip, a tag and a current record, your pet is easier to find if they ever slip out of the door, and you are ready for the park, the vet and the airport. Quick answers Is microchipping compulsory for dogs and cats in Dubai? Dubai Municipality registers and microchips cats and dogs, and registration is tied to the microchip and to current vaccinations. Travelling or moving with your pet What are the signs that a vaccination has gone wrong? Quick answers Sources Copy link WhatsApp Post Email Key takeaways Rabies vaccination is described as legally mandatory for cats and dogs in the UAE, with an annual booster. Confirm the current rule with your vet, Dubai Municipality or MOCCAE. Vets call a small group of vaccines “core”: for dogs, distemper, adenovirus and parvovirus; for cats, panleukopenia, calicivirus and herpesvirus. Puppies and kittens need several doses, finishing at 16 weeks or older, then a booster. Your vet will set the exact schedule. Proof of vaccination is needed to register a pet, to travel and, in most cases, to use boarding, daycare and grooming. Keep the vaccination record safe and photographed. A digital record makes renewals, registration and trips much easier. Vaccination is one of those topics where everyone has an opinion and the paperwork is surprisingly important. In the UAE it matters twice over: it protects your pet from serious diseases, and the vaccination record unlocks registration, boarding, grooming and travel. This guide explains the basics, separates what the UAE requires from what vets recommend, and shows where different sources do not quite agree. It is general information. Your own vet will tailor a plan to your pet’s age, health and lifestyle, and that advice comes first. Is rabies vaccination compulsory in the UAE? Rabies vaccination is described as legally mandatory for all cats and dogs in the UAE, with an annual booster to stay compliant. That is the position set out in an insurer’s guide dated August 2026, and it matches how clinics work in practice: the yearly rabies visit is also when registration is renewed. Because rules can change, confirm the current requirement with your vet, Dubai Municipality or the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE). Rabies is one of the vaccines that most countries treat differently from the rest. Veterinary organisations note that in many places rabies vaccination is a legal requirement and is generally also required for international travel. In the UAE it also sits at the centre of the import rules, which we explain in our guide to bringing a pet into the UAE . What are “core” vaccines? Core vaccines are those that the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) says all dogs and cats should receive, wherever they live, because they protect against severe, life-threatening diseases found around the world. Species Core vaccines protect against Notes Dogs Canine distemper virus, canine adenovirus, canine parvovirus type 2 Usually given together in a combined vaccine Cats Feline parvovirus (panleukopenia), feline calicivirus, feline herpesvirus-1 Usually given together in a combined vaccine Both Rabies Core where rabies is present, and a legal requirement in the UAE Non-core vaccines are the ones your pet needs only if their location or lifestyle puts them at risk, for example vaccines against kennel cough for dogs that board often, or against feline leukaemia for cats that go outdoors. Your vet will tell you which of these make sense. WSAVA’s guidance is that vaccines should not be given needlessly, which is a good reminder to ask “why this one, and how often?”. What does the puppy and kitten schedule look like? Puppies and kittens need a series of core vaccines rather than a single injection. The reason is that antibodies from the mother can interfere with early vaccines, and the amount varies from litter to litter, so vets give several doses and make sure the last one is given at 16 weeks of age or older. WSAVA’s guidelines recommend starting core vaccination at 6 to 8 weeks, repeating every 2 to 4 weeks until 16 weeks or older, followed by a booster at 6 or 12 months. The exact number of visits depends on the age at which you start, and your vet will map it out. First weeks: keep your puppy or kitten away from areas used by unvaccinated animals until your vet says the series is complete. Rabies: a UAE insurer’s guide says the first rabies vaccine is usually given between 12 and 16 weeks of age, with a booster a year later. Adopting an adult: bring any previous records, and your vet will decide what is needed. If there are no records, your vet will decide how to proceed. Good to know Choose a clinic early and ask them to book the whole series in one go. Missing a visit can mean repeating a dose, which costs time and money. How often do adult pets need boosters? This is the part where guidance differs, so here is the honest picture. WSAVA says core vaccines should not be given more often than every three years after the 6- or 12-month booster, because immunity can last many years. In the UAE, however, rabies is boosted annually to meet the local requirement, and many clinics offer yearly packages that bundle the exam, the rabies vaccine and other vaccines. Both things can be true: the science supports longer intervals for some vaccines, while local rules, clinic policies and boarding facilities often ask for annual records. A sensible approach is to follow your vet’s plan, ask them to explain the interval for each vaccine, and keep the paperwork current for anything that has a legal or practical deadline, such as rabies. Ask your vet: which of these is the law, which is the advice, and which is the clinic’s package? How much do pet vaccinations cost in the UAE? Prices vary by clinic and emirate. An August 2026 insurer guide gave these ranges as a rough guide only. Item Reported range (AED) Single rabies vaccine 100 to 300 Annual package for an adult dog or cat (rabies plus other core vaccines, exam, often a microchip check and municipality paperwork) 350 to 510 Cat core-vaccine visit including rabies 200 to 400 Puppy or kitten full course 599 to 1,200 Treat these as a guide and ask for a written quote. A cheaper price is not always better value if it leaves out the exam or the paperwork. Why does the vaccination record matter so much? Your pet’s vaccination record is a working document. Proof of vaccination is needed to register a pet with the municipality, to travel with your pet, and for most boarding, daycare and grooming facilities. For import, MOCCAE requires the record to list the microchip number, vaccine name, batch number and date, and the rabies vaccine must be given after the microchip. Keep the original booklet somewhere safe, and take a photo of every page. Check that the microchip number on the record matches the chip. Note the next due date in your calendar or in a care planner such as Mori’s . Take the record to boarding, grooming and vet visits. Mori’s health records keep vaccines and next-due dates in one place on your phone, so the date does not depend on a crumpled booklet. Travelling or moving with your pet If you plan to bring a pet into the UAE or take one out, the vaccination timeline becomes strict. MOCCAE’s import rules include a minimum age for the rabies vaccine (12 weeks from low-risk origins or 15 weeks from high-risk origins), and pets from high-risk countries need a rabies antibody blood test from an accredited laboratory, with a waiting period after vaccination before testing. Start early, because these steps take weeks. Our import guide walks through the sequence, and remember that destination countries have their own rules for export. Before you book flights Do not rely on a summary, including this one, for travel. Check the current MOCCAE page and the destination country’s rules, and ask your vet to confirm the order of microchip, vaccine and blood test. What are the signs that a vaccination has gone wrong? Most pets feel a little sleepy or sore after a vaccine. Contact your vet if you notice swelling of the face, hives, repeated vomiting, difficulty breathing, collapse or anything that worries you. These reactions are uncommon, but they need prompt attention, and the clinic can tell you what to watch for and for how long. Can I keep my dog active in summer without walking outside? A simple summer routine you can copy Quick answers Sources Copy link WhatsApp Post Email Key takeaways Test the ground with the back of your hand for five to seven seconds. If it is uncomfortable for you, it is too hot for paws. In summer, walk early (before about 6:30 to 7:00) or late (after about 20:00). Vets and insurers advise avoiding roughly 8:00 to 18:00. Humidity keeps the risk high after sunset, so a late walk still needs water, shade and a short route. Flat-faced, older, overweight, very young and thick-coated dogs overheat faster. Shorten their walks first. If your dog shows heatstroke signs, stop, cool them down and phone a vet straight away. If you have lived in the UAE for even one summer, you already know the feeling: you step outside at seven in the evening and the air still feels like an open oven door. Your dog feels it too, and unlike you, your dog cannot take off a layer or ask for a cold drink. Walking a dog here is wonderful for most of the year, and quietly risky for a few months. A little planning is all it takes to keep it enjoyable. This guide pulls together what UAE vets, pet insurers and animal welfare organisations consistently recommend, in plain words. It is general guidance, not a substitute for advice from your own vet, who knows your dog. When is it too hot to walk a dog in the UAE? As a rule of thumb, summer in the UAE runs from roughly May to September, and during those months the safest walks are very early or late in the day. Vet and insurer guidance in the UAE suggests walking before about 6:30 to 7:00 in the morning or after about 20:00 in the evening, and avoiding roughly 8:00 to 18:00. Notice the word “roughly”. There is no single temperature at which every dog is suddenly in danger, because it depends on the dog, the humidity and the ground. What the sources agree on is the pattern: the middle of the day is out, and even the evening needs care, because humidity stays high after sunset and the pavement holds heat for hours. Time of day (May to September) What to do Before about 6:30 to 7:00 The best window. Still check the ground, carry water and keep it brisk rather than long. About 8:00 to 18:00 Avoid walks. Toilet breaks only, on grass or in shade, and keep them short. After about 20:00 Better, but not automatically safe. Humidity is high and asphalt can stay hot, so test the surface first. In the cooler months the picture changes, and many owners find October evenings are still warm enough that the habit of testing the ground is worth keeping until it feels properly cool. What is the five-second pavement test? Place the back of your hand flat on the pavement and hold it there for five to seven seconds. If it is uncomfortable for you, it is too hot for your dog’s paws. It takes no equipment and no maths, and it catches a danger that is easy to miss when you are wearing shoes. The reason it matters: sources in the UAE note that asphalt in summer can reach 60 to 70°C, far hotter than the air. Paw pads can blister or burn on surfaces that feel merely warm through a trainer sole. Dark surfaces such as asphalt, and also metal, rubber matting and some tiles, heat up the most. Pale concrete and grass are usually cooler, and shade makes a big difference. A habit worth keeping Do the test every time you set out, not only in July. A surface that was fine at 6:00 can be unpleasant by 6:45 once the sun is up. If the ground fails the test, change the plan rather than hurrying across it. Walk on grass, wait in the shade, carry a small dog, or turn the outing into a play session indoors. Some owners also try protective boots for dogs that will tolerate them, which is a personal choice worth discussing with your vet or groomer. Which dogs overheat fastest? Every dog can overheat, but some are at higher risk and need shorter, calmer walks. Dogs cool themselves mainly by panting, so anything that makes panting less effective, or makes the body work harder, raises the risk. Flat-faced breeds such as bulldogs, pugs and some mastiff-type dogs, whose short airways make panting less effective. Puppies and older dogs , who are not as able to regulate their temperature. Dogs with thick or double coats , which hold heat in. Overweight dogs , and dogs with heart, lung or other health conditions. UAE vet guidance also singles out flat-faced, older, overweight and thick-coated dogs for extra caution. If your dog is in one of these groups, treat the summer rules as stricter: shorter, slower, closer to home and closer to water. What should I take on a summer dog walk? Water first. Carry more than you think you will need, and a bowl or a folding cup so your dog can drink without you having to improvise. Offer water little and often rather than letting a hot, excited dog gulp a large amount at once. Water and a bowl, for both of you. A route that includes grass or shade, even if it is a little longer. Waste bags, because the rules about picking up after your dog still apply. Your phone, charged, with the number of your vet and a 24-hour clinic saved. Mori’s local guide lists clinics that say they are open round the clock. Never in a parked car Never leave a dog in a parked car, even for a minute with the windows slightly open and the engine off. Temperatures inside a car in the UAE can become dangerous very quickly. How do I know my dog is struggling with the heat? Learn the early signs so that you act before it becomes an emergency. Heavy panting that does not ease when you stop, drooling, weakness, restlessness, refusing to keep walking, or lying down and not wanting to get up are all signals to stop now. More serious signs include vomiting or diarrhoea, a fast heartbeat, noisy or fast breathing, red gums, muscle spasms or collapse. When in doubt, stop walking. A dog that wants to turn around is telling you something. Heat exhaustion can progress to heatstroke, which is an emergency. We cover the full list of signs and the first steps in a separate guide, recognising and treating heatstroke in pets . What should I do if my dog overheats? Act in this order: stop, cool, call. Stop exercising and move your dog into shade or an air-conditioned space. Begin cooling straight away, then phone a vet and follow their instructions while you travel. Stop and move. Get out of the sun. Remove your dog from a hot vehicle or building. Cool with water. Pour or spray cool water over the neck, belly and thighs. Veterinary charities advise cooling first and transporting second. UAE sources say to use cool rather than ice-cold water, while the RSPCA notes that cold water rarely causes shock in overheated dogs. Sources differ on the finer detail, so a quick phone call to a vet is the best way to settle it. Create airflow. A fan, or air conditioning in the car, helps the water do its job. Call ahead. Tell the clinic you are on your way so they can prepare, and take water for the journey. Avoid wrapping your dog in wet towels, which can trap heat. If you are unsure which clinic is open, check the list of 24-hour vets in our guide to finding a 24-hour emergency vet in the UAE . Can I keep my dog active in summer without walking outside? Yes, and many UAE owners do. Short bursts of play indoors, scent games with treats hidden around the flat, puzzle feeders, gentle training sessions and, for dogs who enjoy it, supervised paddling in a shallow tray of water all burn energy without the heat. Some malls and indoor venues welcome pets, but policies vary, so always check ahead, as we explain in our guide to checking a venue’s pet policy . If you use a care planner, such as the one in Mori, you can set your walk reminders for the cooler ends of the day, so the routine nudges you before the pavement heats up rather than after. A simple summer routine you can copy Morning: a short walk before about 6:30 to 7:00, after a quick ground test, with water. Daytime: indoors, with fresh water always available and the air conditioning on. Evening: a relaxed walk after about 20:00 on grass or shaded paths, re-testing the surface. Always: watch your dog’s breathing and mood, not the clock. The best dog owners are not the ones who never get caught out. They are the ones who notice early, change plans without fuss and keep a vet’s number close. Do that, and the UAE summer is just a season to work around. Home / Editorial policy Editorial policy How we know what we know. Updated 22 October 2026 Why this page exists The local guide Confidence levels Maggy Guides and journal Corrections Independence Why this page exists You’re trusting Mori with questions about your pet and decisions about where to take them. This page explains how we gather, check and present information, and what we do when we get it wrong. The local guide We build listings from each provider’s own public pages, government pages and published guides. We read the source directly where we can, and record the sources and the date we checked on every place. Nothing is shown as Verified until the business itself confirms its details to us. Until then, listings are marked Unverified , and places taken from a provider’s or government’s own page are marked as an official source. We leave a field empty rather than guess. If a source doesn’t give opening hours, we don’t publish hours. There is no paid placement in how places are ranked. Places are ordered by your area and emirate, whether they serve your kind of pet, whether they are open 24 hours, and how confident we are in the information. If we ever add sponsored placements, they will be labelled clearly. Confidence levels Official source: taken from the business’s own website or a government page. Unverified: taken from an insurer’s list, a news article, a guide or a directory. We say which in the listing’s notes. Maggy Maggy gives general guidance. It never diagnoses, prescribes or suggests doses, and it stays on the topic of pets. If a message mentions signs of an emergency, Mori skips the chat and shows 24-hour vets with phone numbers. When the answer service isn’t available, Mori can answer a small set of questions from notes we’ve checked, and says that’s what it’s doing, with the sources. Guides and journal Journal articles list their sources and the date the facts were checked. Where sources disagree, we say so instead of picking one. We are not lawyers or vets, and our articles are not legal or veterinary advice. Corrections If you spot a mistake, tell us . We aim to check and fix errors promptly, update the checked date, and note significant corrections on the page. Independence Our editorial choices are made independently of providers and partners. Partnerships never change a listing’s sources or its Unverified label. Coming soon Mori for iPhone and Android is on its way. Be first in line. Home / Questions and answers FAQ Questions pet owners ask. About Mori, and about looking after a pet in the UAE. Where the answer is a rule, it comes from our checked notes. Questions All questions and answers. Updated 22 October 2026. This is general information, not veterinary or legal advice. What is Mori? Mori is a pet-care companion for the UAE. It plans your pet’s day, sends reminders, keeps vaccines, medication and weight in one place, answers everyday questions through Maggy, and helps you find vets, groomers, boarding and pet-friendly places. It supports dogs, cats, birds and falcons. Is Mori free, and is it on the App Store or Google Play? Mori is free today and works in your phone’s browser; you can add it to your Home Screen. The iPhone and Android apps are not published yet. Join the waitlist and we’ll send one email when they are. Who is Maggy, and can she diagnose my pet? Maggy is Mori’s calm, friendly assistant. She gives general guidance about everyday pet care, finds places from Mori’s own directory and answers UAE pet-rule questions from checked notes. She never diagnoses, prescribes or suggests doses. If it might be an emergency, she shows 24-hour clinics with phone numbers first. Where does Mori’s local information come from? From each provider’s own website, government pages, insurer lists, tourism authorities and published guides, plus map positions from OpenStreetMap. Every place shows its sources and the date it was checked. The directory holds 254 care places and 60 pet outings, last checked 23 October 2026. What does “Unverified” mean on a listing? It means the details come from public pages and the business has not yet confirmed them to Mori. Always check hours and prices with the provider before you go. Which emirates does Mori cover? The area picker covers all seven emirates (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah) and Al Ain. The directory is deepest in Dubai. We list what we can source and say where we cannot. Do I need an account? Where is my data stored? No account is needed. Your pets, photos, tasks and records stay on your phone, and you can export or erase them in Settings. Mori has no advertising and no tracking. Does Mori work in Arabic? English works today. Arabic is being added next, with Russian and Filipino planned after that. Do I need to register and microchip my pet in the UAE? Cats and dogs in Dubai must be microchipped and registered with Dubai Municipality, normally through a licensed vet clinic, and registration is tied to up-to-date vaccinations. Rules change, so confirm with the municipality or a licensed vet. Is rabies vaccination required? Rabies vaccination is required for cats and dogs in the UAE and must be kept current (annual booster is the norm); it is also central to import rules. Confirm current requirements with your vet or the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment. Where can I take my dog in the UAE? Dogs must be leashed in public; most public beaches, municipal parks, malls and public transport do not admit dogs. Use designated dog parks, the Dubai Islands dog beach, and venues that explicitly welcome pets. Mori’s local guide lists designated dog parks and pet-friendly venues with their stated rules. Which dog breeds are banned in the UAE? The UAE bans certain dog breeds under Annex 2 of Federal Law No. 22 of 2016 (as amended by MOCCAE), with exemptions for service, emotional-support and medical dogs. Lists in secondary sources differ, so always check MOCCAE's current list. How do I bring a pet into the UAE? Imports need a MOCCAE import permit, ISO microchip, valid rabies vaccination (plus titer test from high-risk countries) and an official health certificate; exports need a MOCCAE veterinary health certificate. Read our guide for where sources disagree. How should I walk my dog in the summer heat? From roughly May to September, walk only very early or late, test the ground with your hand, keep walks short, carry water and know the signs of heatstroke. This is general guidance, not veterinary advice. What if my pet has an emergency? Call your vet or a 24-hour clinic straight away and do not wait for an app. Mori shows 24-hour clinics that state on their own sites that they are open round the clock, but always phone ahead. Can my business be listed, and how do I correct a listing? Yes. Vets, groomers, boarding places, sitters and trainers can confirm or correct their details through our partners page, and anyone can report a mistake from a listing. Corrections are checked, dated and noted on the page. How local data works Where every place comes from. We read public pages, write down only what they state, and show you the source. 314 places so far, last checked 23 October 2026. Official source Taken from the business’s own website or a government page, such as the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment or a tourism authority. Published guide Taken from an insurer’s vet network list, a news article or a respected guide, and marked as such. Directory listing Taken from a directory or a map. We show it with the lowest confidence and never invent the missing details. Sources and a date on every place Each listing shows where its facts came from and when we checked them. Unverified until the business says so We only label a place Verified after the business confirms its own details to us. Nobody has yet. Empty rather than guessed If a source gives no opening hours, we publish no hours. Distances to places we couldn’t pin on a map are marked as approximate. No paid placement Places are ranked by where you are, whether they treat your kind of pet, whether they are open and how sure we are. Never by who paid. Map positions come from OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL). Read our editorial policy . Ask an AI about Mori Ask your favourite AI about us. Prefer an answer from an assistant you already use?
